Meet the Directors

Jacqui (left) and Kat (right) are programmed to bring you an astronomical O-Week!
Kat and Jacqui met through the Sydney University Dramatic Society in 2008 and continued to work together in uni activities, including the 2009 Women’s Revue band. Their vision for this space-themed O-Week was inspired by one of the University’s mottos of ‘No Limits’, along with the launch of the KEO time capsule. KEO will return to Earth in 50, 000 years with information about 2010. Kat and Jacqui wanted to encapsulate this so O-Week 2010 would look out of this world to the inhabitants of the future! The university odyssey is also astronomically important to Kat and Jacqui, where the fun starts at O-Week and the stars are the limit!

Jacqui Munro
Jacqui is a vibrant individual who loves all things music. Often described as the love-child of Peter Garrett and Boney M, she dances like nothing else, and brings 19 years of wisdom along with that elusive ‘something else’ to the team. She is studying a Bachelor of International Studies, majoring in Government and International Relations and Political Economy, a fairly practical mix that will hopefully set her up for a global, travel-friendly career. Jacqui’s heritage lies in the pale-skinned Scottish isle, which has allowed her to emulate Twilight characters with ease, but excessive Harry Potter trivia knowledge is where her heart truly lies.

A passionate USU member, Clubs and Societies make up a big part of her life, including great friends, fun performances and good times. As Vice-President of the Jazz Society, the Basement and Vanguard are favourite night spots, having both performed there on tenor sax and enjoyed performances. Her O-Week vision is a culmination of the appreciation of the USU and love of the unknown.

Katrina Steedman
Kat, 20, is about to embark in her third year of studying a Bachelor of Arts majoring in both Indonesian and Psychology. Kat is best described as being ethnically ambiguous, as despite having Balinese ethnicity; she is often mistaken for being Spanish, Italian, South American, American and even Turkish. With a black-belt in the martial art Zen Chi Ryu, teamed with a passion for the Clarinet, Kat brings to the partnership a sensitive soul but with a hidden dragon. She also considers herself a bit of a geek but despite studying Psychology, does not possess mind-reading abilities.

Kat has been an avid member of the USU with her involvement in SUDS, MUSE, a SPOC at O-Week 2009, a band member in Women’s Revue 2009 as well as attending the multitude of the phantasmagorical events on offer by the USU. With a penchant for exotic cheeses, sangria and creating ridiculous space-related-puns, Jacqui and Kat extend their warmest welcome to 2010: A Sydney O-dyssey whether you moon-walk, enjoying sipping zero gravi-teas or just wanting to check out the university you’ll call home.
